This is another movie I wasn't too sure about. Biblio told me it was good, but I was still apprehensive because most comics made movies end up disappointing. Also, I had never even heard of the comic before watching the movie. I was pleasantly suprised.
The CGI was pretty much seamless. Unlike some movies where I am tempted to point out the unrealistic parts, I was so into the story and the graphics were so good that it wasn't a distraction at all.
I really loved the iron man robot 'costumes'. All of them were good, but of course my favorite was the one used throughout most of the second half of the movie. The colors were nice, and the part where the main character was learning to use it was hilarious. The artillery was impressive as well (I love watching things get blown up). In fact, I was somewhat impressed by the representation of all the advanced technology.
I also loved the casting. I couldn't place who the main actor was, but I think he did an extremely impressive job. I thought he was a bit of an odd shape though, as I whispered to one of my friends during the movie. Another of my favorite casting choices was the man who is held in captivity with the main character at the beginning. Again, I can't remember the name (I'm horrible with names).
The action, plot, and CGI were the highlights. The plot went something along these lines: The main character is the son of the man who invented the atomic bomb. His father and his father's friend ran a weapon business until the death of his father. After a while the main character took over his father's place in the company, and was basically a head-boss-man. He is very irresponsible, and a playboy. After demonstrating an ultra-destructive new weapon overseas, he is captured by what appears to be a terrorist group. He is told he must recreate the weapon he had earlier demonstrated, or he will be killed. That's as much as I feel like I can say without ruining any of the plot. Let's just say the twists, while a tiny bit predictable, are still extremely fun and keep the action-centered plot going nicely.
There are small undertones of romance, but these are only prominent in a few scenes. I found them interesting and somewhat awkward for the characters, to say the least.
There is also a theme of 'Man VS Corrupt Businessmen', as there was in Speed Racer. Because of the beginning and the other themes being dealt with, however, it definitely had a very different tone than Speed Racer's take on it.
FINAL ANALYSIS: This movie has action, plot, some comedy, small doses of almost-romance, and awesome CGI. I recommend it.
I know that Biblio at least saw it as well, so I can't wait to read her take on it, as well as anyone else's.
...I am a bit tired, so I hope this made sense. If not, I'll edit it after I have some sleep.

My review: It was awesome. Some of the plot was a little predictable. (I knew what sort of character Obidiah Stane was going to be the very first time he appeared on screen. It was just so plovious. [I just made that word up, it's a portmanteau of "plot" and "obvious"] Although I won't say what I noticed because it's technically a spoiler and probably not as plovious as I think it is.) There were a few things that bothered me a bit from a physics standpoint, but hey, it's a superhero comic turned movie. You can sort of pass on that. But seriously, a suit made of metal is not going to protect you from walking through a fire. And no matter how awesome the suit is if you're hitting the ground hard enough to make a crater, then wham you hit the inside of the suit just as hard. Beyond that, CGI, characterization, casting, awkward romance (it was good awkward! Enough to prevent sappy and not enough to make you squirm!) all thumbs up! And wait until the end of the credits if you can. BECAUSE OF AWESOME.
